Dosimetry comparisons are carried out to evaluate the degree of consistency in the determination of quantities such as absorbed dose or dose equivalent by different laboratories. Comparison exercises are extremely useful when there is no national standard for the quantity in question. Examples are dose equivalent in high-energy neutron fields or the dose equivalent resulting from internally deposited radionuclides.
