The accuracy of radiation protection dosimetry measurements is important because such measurements are used to determine effective doses received by radiation workers. When reporting any measured quantity, it is important to follow the recommendations of the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM)(1). The GUM states that the report of a measurement must be accompanied by a quantitative evaluation of its quality so that the reliability of the result can be judged. The quantitative measure is usually provided in the form of an estimation of the measurement uncertainty. This requirement is well known to the national metrology
