Detection and Determination Limits Using Glow Curve Analysis for LiF:Mg,Ti and LiF:Mg,Cu,P Based TL-Dosimetry
The implications of glow curve analysis for dose estimation on both the detection limit (LD) and the determination limit (LQ) in personal dosimetry are evaluated. With respect to these limits the main advantage of glow curve analysis is the direct and individual subtraction of the zero dose signals using the same glow curve employed for the dose estimation, thus without requiring additional undosed dosemeters or second readouts for indirect background evaluation. This work shows how the use of this kind of analysis leads to significant simplifications in the expressions of these limits, LD and LQ. Some terms that greatly contribute to their value are eliminated thus improving the minimum dose that can be reliably measured. The cases of LiF:Mg,Ti and LiF:Mg,Cu,P are studied.
