Influence of Plateout of Thoron Progeny on Formation of Tracks in SSNTD Films (LR-115-II)

C.G. Maniyan, P.P. Haridasan, A.C. Paul and K. Rudran

SSNTDs were exposed at representative locations in a monazite processing plant in order to assess the integrated potential alpha energy concentration (PAEC) due to alpha emitters of thoron daughters. There was only a limited correlation between PAEC and the number of tracks in the SSNTD. Detailed studies showed that there existed a good correlation between the tracks and the plated out activity on the surface of the films.
