Laboratory Measurements of Radon Exhalation and Diffusion

A. Poffijn, R. Bourgoignie, R. Marijns, J. Uyttenhove, A. Janssens and R. Jacobs

Results of measurements of the specific activities in a number of building materials used in Belgium and of their radon exhalation rates are presented. The exhalation rates were determined by measuring the radon generated in a sealed box with the Lucas method. The experimental arrangement for diffusion measurements is described and the results obtained for some materials are discussed.
