Local Recording Practice in Dose Record Keeping in Italy

M.I. Litido, A. Cavallini and L. Chili

At present a National Dose Data Bank maintained by ENEA (National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Environment) collects information on 50,000 Italian workers exposed to external ionising radiation. In this paper Italian regulatory aspects about dose record keeping are outlined briefly. Results are presented of an analysis that compares doses of all the monitored workers in the Data Bank with those of a small sample of workers whose data are specifically validated by Health Physicists. The differences in the two dose distributions are analysed and interpreted in the light of radiation protection practice and regulatory applications enforced in Italy.
