Calculated Fluence-to-Directional and Personal Dose Equivalent Conversion Coefficients for Neutrons
The change of the functional dependence of the radiation quality factor, Q(L), on the linear energy transfer, L, as recommended by theInternational Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has made it necessary to recompute operational neutron radiation protection quantities. Neutron data are given for the directional dose equivalent, H'(10)/_, and the personal dose equivalent, Hp(10)/_, in the energy range from thermal to 20 MeV. The ranges of incident directions are for H'(10)/_ (defined in the ICRU sphere) 0 o( a ( 90 o and for Hp(10)/_ (defined in the ICRU slab) 0 o ( ß ( 180 o. Using data presented in this work and data collated from literature an analytical fit for H*(10)/_ is suggested. A revision of the radiation weighting factor for neutrons is suggested on the basis of this analysis.
