Experimental Study of the Dosimetric Efficiency of a Radiator-CR-39 Fast Neutron Dosemeter

L. Makovicka, J.L. Decossas and J.C. Vareille

In previous papers we presented the theoretical study of the sensitivity of fast neutron dosemeters (radiator-detector) which are chemically etched. From this study, effective dosimetric efficiency (Ee) was introduced, then optimised, so that it is minimally dependent on neutron energy and angle of incidence. Ee corresponds to the contribution of the radiator when it is associated with a SSNTD (CR-39), the detection properties of which we have already determined. Ee is obtained by a differential method. In this way, the detector response and background are also subtracted. The differential structure dosemeter has been tested during the last joint neutron irradiations of EURADOS-CENDOS for energies from 0.12 MeV to 14.7 MeV. Experimental results are used to obtain the effective dosimetric efficiency, which is compared with theoretical results.
