The Influence of Phantoms on the Response of Etched Track Detectors
The contribution of albedo neutrons to the response of TEDs is determined by means of a Monte Carlo program. The albedo fluence is folded with free-in-air responses. The ICRU spherical and the anthropoid MIRD phantoms are used. The total dose equivalent response Rtot is written as a product of four factors. This allows the influence of various neutron spectra and angular distributions, different angular TED responses and the phantom contribution to be studied separately. Numerical results using the directional dose equivalent H'(10) are presented.
