Levels of natural alpha and gamma emitting radionuclides (228Ac, 214Pb and 40K) were measured in beach sands from samples collected in 19982000 from the beaches of Mazagón and Doñana National Park (on the Southwest Coast of Spain). The external radiation dose rate received by the population was estimated from these levels.
